(BURBANK, CA – February 24, 2012) — Dennis Eder, managing director of Strategic Health Group, was a featured speaker recently at a health sciences seminar on healthcare financial management conducted by the University of California, Los Angeles. It was the first of three presentations that Eder will be making in conjunction with UCLA over the next 60 days.

In the presentation just concluded, Eder shared with students the importance of mastering financial skills in order to become a successful healthcare executive. His remarks were based on a 25-year executive career ranging from CEO of a 250,000 member regional health plan to CFO of a nationally renowned integrated health system. A former recipient of the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “CFO of the Year” award, Eder has also brought his financial skills to a number of turnaround situations ranging from a biopharmaceutical company to a leading Medicare Advantage HMO.

Leveraging that Medicare experience, on March 31 Eder will be a member of the faculty at the tenth annual Leadership and Management in Geriatrics Conference, co-sponsored by the UCLA Academic Geriatric Resource Center, the California Geriatric Education Center and SCAN Health Plan. There he will address an audience of healthcare professionals concerned with responding to an aging society with a session entitled “Key Aspects of a Successful Business in Healthcare: A Discussion of Certain Financial Concepts.”

Continuing his involvement with UCLA, on April 28 Eder will be teaching at the executive masters of public health program at the university where he will discuss credit worthiness and valuations in healthcare.
